Mother-Daughter May 6, 2011

I was in charge of the Mother-Daughter Banquet for our church this year...I was very excited about it and decided on a Garden Theme. I planned the food and decided to have salads for the meal and then Dirt Cake for desert...putting them all in new flower pots...Sowing Seeds of Kindness was the title we used...I decorated the talbes with alyssum in small post with a few pots of moss roses, citrenella candles in small pales, watering can, and had it all ready just to get the decorations and put it up..my niece Gina was helping me...all of tis seemed great...then a friend of mine called needed a babysitter while she had surgery for her 16 month old great niece...how could I say no...well this little girl was super swet but super busy...so a small job turned into a huge job!!! I had to juggle bottles, diapers, naps, food and chasing along with decorating and cooking etc...each day I was so tired I thought I would drop...I gave her plastic containers and a spoon to keep her occupied and cook with me...the banquet was a success and eveything looked nicer then I ever thought...I made taco salad, macaroni salad, corn salad, fruit salad, and cole slaw. I made dirt cake for dessert...Recipes to follow for some of the salads. It was such a fun time to see the ladies have such a great time...O and the best part was my marlboro man watched the baby for about 2.5 hours...she did not cry once and he was such a great help to me for the eveing...when he was done and had to head home to do chores...my little Lacey took over and did an awesome job watching the little tike while I cleaned up...life in Crazy Town at its best!

Ducks

I got graced with six ducks two drakes (males) and four hens (females)...they have been locked in a barn for over a week...today I decided to take them out and let them roam around...they ran out to the pasture and stayed there most of the day...I decided they had to come back in so I had to chase them or better put herd them...the horses scared them and so they ran out farther...I was chasing them for over 45 minutes...I was at a trot and fast walk for alll that time...finally i got them in the barn and what a relief!!! The nice thing about it is they stayed together in a herd the whole time not running here and there like cows do!!!

My Cowboy Husband

My husband Barry is a man of many talents...he can fix anything...but...the one flaw is he is a huge pack rat...it is impossible to get rid of stuff...over 20 years ago we had a big flood in the basement...he called me frantically...he had every Western Horseman saved since 1964...I am not joking!!! So I was running heavy boxes of water up the steps as fast as my sort legs could go...and he was so upset as all this good information was being ruined by water...outwardly, I was saying I know this is hard for you...he said do you think much of this can be saved...I sad no...water ruins things...inside I was jumping up and down doing cart wheels as we were getting rid of junk...that is the only way it seems to work at our house!!!

Saying all that...the saga continues...

I had lived away this winter due to a job, long hours, treacherous winter weather...I moved all my "stuff" home over Memorial weekend...it has been sitting in the garage driving me and him nuts...I said I don't want to just throw these things away...so he decided one morning to take the brown couch to his place of employment Cenex...a convenience store/repair shop/Farmer fuel delivery/propane delivery...he sets it out front with a sign $20...lots of people stop sit on it and move on...finally a guy wants it has no way to get and my husbands boss delivers it to get it out of there...he now thinks of bringing other things to set out front...I crack up laughing will it become a flea market too...will he wheel a clothing rack out each day with garments for anywhere form 10 cents to a $1...the man cracks me up!!! So in all we sold a couch for $20, TV stand and dresser for $30...the same person bought it all...he kept the money...I wasn't sad we got rid of some more junk that became an others treasures!!

More Barry stories to follow!!!
