Bakery...

In mid August I became the bakery  manager for Bronson's Super Valu...it was a whirlwind kind of thing...I had started working in the deli...then asked to cross train in the bakery then to consider being the manager...it was a tough decision...I accepted a week later...the day I accepted a company that knew me from my construction experience in WY called and offered me a job...of course 3 times the money...I was in agony for days...the Saturday after the two offers I was driving into town to work and came over the hill into Beulah...it was like the Lord was speaking directly to me...the story of Satan taking Jesus on the mountain and offering him all these things if he worshiped him...it was a clear impression to me to take the job in Beulah and not travel anymore...so I was settled...don't get me wrong it has not been without problems or trials along the way...I will list a few here...

I had a gal in the bakery I inherited her with the job...she was loud, obnoxious, lazy, did not respect me in any way whatsoever...I would ask her to do things she would leave the bakery and do her own thing...it was weeks of frustration...she was sick on two occasions and was laying on the bakery floor...GROSS!!!  It was so difficult and she had no desire to do anything in the bakery she would be in produce visiting and frozen foods...finally we just stopped putting her on the schedule...RELIEF!!!

I found another girl named Autumn...she is such a great gal...very young...only 18 but...has learned so much and is a hard worker...sweet...not perfect  but awesome for the department...

WE hired another girl whom I will not name to protect the guilty...her first day was a mess in the department...in all the training and busy day of a Monday...dough was left in the proofer for 5.5 hours...when I looked in the proofer I was in shock...the french bread looked like torpedos...the buns were as large as small watermelon...some of the bread and poofed out the sides like an explosion...I was so upset I said to the girls I have to leave the store for a few minutes...so i went to the hardware store an bought a timer so we never put bread in the proofer without a timer set...had a quick meeting stating this cannot happen again...and then to tell my boss...OOOO I hated that!!!  Now it is pretty funny thinking of bread all over the place!!!

This new girl could never quit thinking about the bread day and kept reliving it over and over...she complained constantly about the amout of money she was being paid...about how disorganized we are...how nothing ever gets done...shelves are never full...she wasn't used to working in  frenzy like we did...she was rude to all the employees...she knew everything about everything...and not much about anything...whenever I left the department she went on a rampage...one of the girls who  never ever complains said to me on her fourth day I really hate to say anything but I really don't think M----- will work out...I said I appreciate you letting me know this...and we continue...one day she had to work over 30 minutes to get things done...so the next day was my day off...she left 45 minutes early...bc there was not enough work to do for two people...she did not approve this with anyone just left...O "there was really not enough work to do" we have cleaning lists that can be done daily...her second day in the department she went to ask the meat department for some food grade lubricant and one of the guys was grinding hamburger and the rest were at lunch he couldn't understand her so she left the meat dept.with her naughty middle fingers in the air at him...I found that out at a later date...the list could go on...so finally a week ago Thursday I called her into a meeting with the owner to get some things straight...she made me look like an idiot...that the bakery is a mess and chaos...I was very unhappy with the way the conversation went...but in the end she seemed to understand things and said I was "the greatest manager she had ever worked for I was so caring and kept everyone in a bubbly mood and she knew how much  I had dont to improve the bakery and she loved working for me"...the next day we found out more things she had done and she called in an it was only her and I for the whole day...after I could take a break six hours later we called her the owner and I and let her go...she then proceeded to tell me I was "the worse f----- manger she had ever had and I did not know what the he-- I was doing and I was  huge pice of shi-" and she said awful tings about the owner too...by the time we were done I was shaking and very upset...she screamed at the owner and I for about ten minuntes and I had to say a few times M---please let me finish a sentence and stop talking over me...the "f" word was used over and over and over...finally we had to get off the phone there was no hope...it was a relief and also a let down...I never like to fire anyone no matter what...people need their money...but this proved to be a valid seperation still hard...when the bakery and deli found out they were high fiving each other...I just felt sick...one of the chicken fryers heard and told me for a few days he didn't want me walking in and out of the store alone bc she was evil...O good grief!!!  This is little ND...things have been ok...I found a new girl with no drama yet!!!
